Arab in Rome slain in ambush

Transcribed from the clipping
ROME — Police mounted a nationwide search yesterday for the killers — possibly Jewish terrorists — who ambushed a Jordanian employed by the Libyan embassy and cut him down in a hail of bullets outside his home.
The hunt for the killers spread throughout Italy as Rome police announced they suspected the killing to be politically motivated and possibly carried out by a Jewish terrorist group. The Al Fatah Palestinian guerrilla organization said the victim — Abdel Wael Zuaiter, 28 — was its Rome representative.
Zuaiter was hit by a dozen .22 caliber bullets Monday night as he was about to enter a elevator in the courtyard of the apartment building where he lived.
How this transcription was made
Masthead not readable on the scan. The label on the slide read: [masthead not on scan] — One clipping, one scan. A further headline begins below the two columns and is cut off at the bottom edge; it is not part of this story. — No masthead, no running head, no date line on this scan. The clipping is cut to the headline and two columns only. The text says police searched “yesterday” and that Zuaiter was shot “Monday night”; Monday was 16 October 1972, so an 18 October paper fits. NOT confirmed from the page.
