Transcribed from the clipping

How this transcription was made
Press photograph with caption, no article; the headline above is the caption's own opening, as the archive titles photo records. Masthead not readable on the scan. The label on the slide read: [masthead not on scan] — Photograph with caption, no article. UPI Photo. The picture shows Zuaiter’s body face down on the pavement of a courtyard, a man in a coat and cap standing over him beside a potted plant, a cloth laid across the legs. — No masthead and no date anywhere on this scan — the clipping is the photograph and its caption only. Nothing on the page confirms either the paper or the date. The killing was the night of Monday 16 October 1972, so an 18 October paper is plausible, but this is Maria’s label and not the page.

This record is part of Covering Palestine, an archive of American newspaper clippings about Palestinians, 1724 to 2023. Researched and assembled by Maria Robles.
The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
Something wrong here, or something you know about this clipping? The archive is still being built and corrections are wanted: maria@rozumstudio.com, quoting CP-1972-057.
