“To the Editor of The Sun: For some time past the newspapers have been full of stories which represent the Zionist viewpoint of the Palestine controversy. The Arab side is completely ignored. Some writers have even suggested that we need not go into the justice of the conflicting claims.

Open Palestine to unlimited Jewish immigration, they say, and let the Jews rule it, regardless of Arab opposition… Certainly, the least we can do is consult the Arabs before we attempt to dispose of their fatherland. America today is the hope of the weaker nations.

They look to us to lead this war-weary world into a new era of international relations—an era of good will, co-operation and peace. Let us not disillusion them.”

A correction

Arrived captioned Register-Guard 1982. The letter is addressed “To the Editor of The Sun,” so the paper is a Sun of some city, not the Register-Guard. It invokes the Four Freedoms, the Atlantic Charter and the “United Nations Organization,” and refers to Mr. Byrnes as Secretary of State, which places it around 1946. Neither the city nor the exact date can be read from the clipping.
