Transcribed from the clipping

JERUSALEM, June 13—Seven books and pamphlets published in New York three to seven years ago, including four publications by Pierre Van Paassen, were officially banned today by the censor from importation into Palestine. Mr. Van Paassen’s books are “Battle for Jerusalem,” “That Day Alone,” “The Forgotten Ally” and “Days of Our Years.”

Other New York pamphlets include “Palestine Is a Mandated, Not British Territory,” written and published by Shemuel ben Eliezer Zvi, and Rabbi Israel Goldstein’s “Prepare the Way,” published by the Jewish National Fund of New York in 1942. BRONXVILLE, N. Y., June 13—Mr.

Van Paassen said tonight at his home here that the censorship action “undoubtedly has to do with the recent return of the Grand Mufti.” In “Days of Our Years,” Mr. Van Paassen charged that the Grand Mufti was responsible for the bloodshed in Palestine in 1929.

How this transcription was made

Read from the scan by a machine looking at the image of the page, not by optical character recognition and not by a person. The clipping carries no masthead and no dated folio line, so the date recorded here could not be checked against anything printed on the page. Nothing on the page contradicts it.

The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
