Fifty-eight thousand people stop work, hold out, and win — and the wire never once divides them by ethnicity. Not Arab and Jewish railway workers; just Palestine railway workers. In a collection where nearly every clipping sorts the country into two groups before it says anything else, this is the one story in which the categories never appear, and it is the one about wages.
