“TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Three Palestinians were killed in a village near Hebron today, apparently when a bomb they were working on exploded prematurely, an Israeli military spokesman said. It was the second apparent accidental bomb blast in as many days on the occupied West Bank of the Jordan River.

On Wednesday, an Arab from Nablus was killed when a bomb he was working on went off prematurely, the Israeli spokesman said. The explosions appeared to signal a possible new surge of violence in the occupied area, despite Israeli claims that the region was ‘absolutely quiet and normal.’”

Four deaths in two days, all of them explained the same way by the same source. The word apparently is in the first sentence and apparent in the second paragraph, and the only account of what happened in either case is an Israeli military spokesman’s. Nobody is named. The last line records the same source calling the region absolutely quiet and normal.
