JERUSALEM, June 5 — The Palestinian Arab Mayor of Nablus, who lost his legs in a terrorist bombing Monday, was taken to Jordan today for medical treatment after his condition deteriorated.

The Israeli Government, which has condemned the attack on the Mayor, Bassam al-Shaka, and two other West Bank mayors, first offered to take him to any hospital in Israel and then, when he declined the offer, sent an ambulance to drive him to the border crossing at Damiya, northeast of here. A Jordanian helicopter flew him to Amman.

There were still no leads in the police investigation of the bombs, which were set to detonate when the car ignition switches were turned on. Arab protests against the bombings died down after Israeli troops broke a general strike. Emergency Surgery in Jordan Mr.

Shaka, whose legs were amputated after the blast, developed gangrene late yesterday and underwent further surgery last night in the hospital in Nablus, the town he has headed as Mayor since 1976. “He felt that he needed more careful treatment than he could get here,” explained a friend who saw Mayor Shaka this morning.

“The medicine seemed to be causing an allergy and there was more fever and infection.” His doctors said that he was also experiencing a “drastic drop in blood pressure.” According to the Israeli state radio, Mr. Shaka received emergency treatment this afternoon upon his arrival at the hospital in Amman.
