Palestinian Killed; 250,000 Under Curfew

Two clauses, and the second one is the number. One person killed, and a quarter of a million people confined to their houses as the response — printed as a single line of news in a small Pennsylvania daily five weeks into the first intifada. The person killed has a nationality and nothing else; nobody in the sentence does the killing or imposes the curfew.

A correction
