“Apologists for Israel protest any criticism — saying that Israel warns the Palestinians in Gaza about five minutes before they bomb people’s homes. Well, that is the exact same policy the Jewish people who had settled in Palestine pursued on the eve of their announcement that they were about to declare an Israeli state in 1948.
Groups of Jewish men drove around Palestine in pickup trucks armed with rifles and equipped with loudspeakers, which they employed to warn Palestinians in their homes to get out and flee to the mountains, because if they locked their doors, the doors would be dynamited and the residents inside shot.
Most of the Palestinians heeded the warnings as the loudspeakers also broadcast tapes of a village that was shot up the previous day — including sounds of screaming residents.”
