In one month of 2014 this archive holds six American notices of the same film: the director saying it is not about the conflict, a review headlined Conflict, paranoia, but little propaganda, a four-star notice assuring readers the villain is not Israel, a production story, an interview about Othello, and this, which finds the political message one-sided enough to obscure the film’s virtues. The paper also relocates the hero: he is a baker here, and a car mechanic’s friend in the film.
