“GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Egyptian mediators worked to end a flare-up between Israel and Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip on Sunday… Israel said it launched the offensive because of an imminent threat from the Islamic Jihad… The Palestinian Health Ministry said 31 people had been killed, including six children and four women… Israel said some of the deaths were caused by rockets that fell short… Ultra-nationalist firebrand lawmaker Itamar Ben Gvir visited the Jerusalem holy site…”
