“BNEI BRAK, Israel — Israel deployed thousands of extra police officers and soldiers across the country and along the West Bank border on Wednesday, hours after a Palestinian gunman shot dead five people in an ultra-Orthodox Israeli city in the single deadliest terrorist attack in Israel in eight years… The five fatalities included two Ukrainian nationals, an Israeli-Arab police officer and two Israelis… The Israeli government has said the attacks were unconnected, though the assailants were all inspired by Islamist ideology… Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Israel faced ‘a wave of murderous Arab terrorism.’… Tensions were already high before the attacks, after a year in which Israeli forces killed dozens of Palestinians in the West Bank…”
