A FREE PALESTINE
That Is Suggested as One of the Possibilities of the War.

How this transcription was made
The scan is the headline block; there is no body text on it to transcribe. The page was corrected against the New York Times’s own article index, which places this piece on page 2 of that day’s paper. The record previously carried page 1.
Context added by this archive
April 1915, two and a half years before Balfour. Free is doing something specific here: free of the Ottomans. What the freedom would mean for the people living there is not in the sentence, and the thing that might deliver it is the war.

This record is part of Covering Palestine, an archive of American newspaper clippings about Palestinians, 1724 to 2023. Researched and assembled by Maria Robles.
The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
Something wrong here, or something you know about this clipping? The archive is still being built and corrections are wanted: maria@rozumstudio.com, quoting CP-1915-001.
