“Before the menace of Zionism, Moslems and Christians alike are united. Never before have these two religions sunk their differences as they have sunk them before the common peril of Jewish colonization. They are no longer enemies. They are Palestinians. … The fact is that Palestine’s population now, as before the war, consists of 600,000 Arabs, all of whom are Moslems; 75,000 Christians, a large proportion of whom are natives; and 75,000 Jews…”

A fourth city for the Clair Price dispatch the archive already holds from Salt Lake City, Buffalo and San Antonio — the earliest of the four datelines, and the only Southern one. The Mohammedan-Christian Society interview in the same column is CP-1919-008. The assertion that Palestinian national identity was manufactured later has to contend with this sentence, set in ordinary body type in Alabama in July 1919.
