Transcribed from the clipping
GENEVA, June 7 (Jewish Telegraph Agency).—Regret that there has been no “material change in the attitude of the Palestine Government toward the questions raised by the Zionist Executive with regard to allotting State and waste land for Jewish colonization in Palestine and allotting State funds for the Hebrew school system in Palestine” was expressed by Dr.
Chaim Weizmann, President of the World Zionist Organization, in a letter submitted to the Permanent Mandates Commission, which opens its session here tomorrow.
In his letter, which was addressed to Lord Plumer, the High Commissioner of Palestine, with the request that it be submitted to the Secretary General of the League of Nations for the information of the Permanent Mandates Commission, Dr.
Weizmann “takes the initiative,” as was recently suggested by the British Government, in the land question, repeats the demand that greater allotments be made for the Hebrew educational system, voices the complaint of the Jewish population of Jerusalem against the events on the last Day of Atonement at the Kothel Ma’aravi (The Wailing Wall), and raises the question whether, according to the provisions of the Mandate, the Palestine Government is to play an entirely passive rôle in the upbuilding of the Jewish National Home in Palestine.
How this transcription was made
Read from the scan by a machine looking at the image of the page, not by optical character recognition and not by a person. The clipping carries no masthead or date line, so its date and newspaper rest on the record it arrived with, not on anything visible in the scan.
Context added by this archive
Date check: No masthead appears on this scan — it is a single trimmed column. The dateline reads "GENEVA, June 7 (Jewish Telegraph Agency).", one day before the slide date of 1926-06-08, which is the normal gap for a cabled story. The year cannot be verified from the image.

This record is part of Covering Palestine, an archive of American newspaper clippings about Palestinians, 1724 to 2023. Researched and assembled by Maria Robles.
The clipping belongs to the newspaper that printed it, or to the news agency that supplied the copy. It is reproduced here for research, criticism and commentary. A city here is where the newspaper was published, not where the story came from, and on most records it was taken from the masthead.
