“The Israeli peace demonstrators had been given police permission to hold a rally… When they turned a street corner near the residence, police fired tear gas and the crowd quickly dispersed.”

A Washington Post dispatch run on the same day as the military trials story, under a headline about guerrillas. Buried in it is the detail that Israeli peace demonstrators with a permit were tear-gassed, which the paper calls the first major Israeli protest against government policy.
