“CORVALLIS — Emily Shihadeh will present a one-woman performance at Oregon State University on Sunday, March 7, that looks at her life growing up in Jerusalem and the Israeli-occupied West Bank and her subsequent move to America. The performance, ‘Grapes and Figs are in Season: A Palestinian Woman’s Story,’ will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Engineering Auditorium of the LaSells Stewart Center, 26th and Western in Corvallis. It is free and open to the public. Shihadeh, a Palestinian-American, blends comedy, storytelling and songs to tell her personal story of how she ‘found beauty within, then opened to the beauty of the other, including her enemy.’ ‘Grapes and Figs’ interweaves Shihadeh’s experiences with politics, history, love, violent death, the loneliness of refugees, and interpersonal relationships with family.”
