“JERUSALEM — (AP) — Beneath the sound and fury of Palestine’s politico-racial miseries, one thing is often forgotten: Palestine is a land where people live, love, labor and listen to music. The world has a Palestine problem because the Jews and Arabs have religious and racial affinities that transcend national boundaries.
But Palestinians are people and they have problems, too. They go to work in the morning, have tea in the afternoon and go to the movies at night. They hear symphony music and opera, they go dancing and gather in taverns. Sometimes they get drunk, they haggle with the butcher and miss buses.
Palestine is a little orphan country waiting for its powerful uncles to decide its destiny. But its peoples’ lives go on. The land is a land of scenic beauty and healthful, sub-tropical climate. It has rock-crested mountains and verdant plains.
Its scenic beauty is marred but little by the hundreds of miles of barbed wire entanglements, the sprawling military encampments and the thousands of military vehicles trundling over its winding roads.”

The word Palestinians here means everybody who lives there. The clipping ends at the subhead “Two Ancient Peoples.”
An earlier version of this record carried three further sentences about the local press in English, Hebrew and Arabic; those sentences belong to the same AP dispatch and are printed on the Springfield Leader and Press copy held here, but they are not on this scan, so they have been moved to that record. The Springfield copy also omits the word labor from the first sentence.
