‘Arabs Have Rights’

“It has long been the editorial policy of the Miami News to pour contempt on the human rights of the indigenous Palestinian Arabs of whom some 1,500,000 are refugees from a homeland seized by military force by Israelis… Americans are constantly brainwashed by the American press into believing that Arab arms lack the West’s anointing virtues.”

Printed directly beneath the signature, in bold, by the paper: “(Editor’s Note: As resident lecturer in Florida for the Arab Information Center in New York City, the author of this letter is a paid propagandist for the Arab government.)” The accusation in the letter is that the paper pours contempt on Palestinians; the paper’s answer, printed on the spot, is a line about the accuser. Fifteen years earlier the Southern Jewish Weekly had introduced a witness before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee the same way.
