Israeli Tells U.N. Raiders Uncovered Big Terrorist Base

UNITED NATIONS, N. Y., Saturday, March 23—Israel told the Security Council yesterday that Thursday’s raid into Jordan had uncovered a huge terrorist base at Karameh, serving about 1,000 men.
The base was stocked with large quantities of arms and ammunition, Ambassador Yosef Tekoah reported, and was the headquarters of the Iraqi command of Al Fatah, a guerrilla organization, and of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Some of the prisoners were trained in Egypt, the Ambassador continued, and it is known that some of the Fatah commanders received their military training in Communist China. Mr. Tekoah offered a detailed report of the Israeli findings as justification for the Israeli attack on the second day of an increasingly acid debate in the 15-member Council.
The meeting was called by Jordan as a result of Israel’s attack Thursday. Muhammad el-Farra, Jordan’s representative, maintained that the Israeli raid was an invasion of Jordanian villages in which the Israelis “looted and destroyed, plundered and murdered at will.”
