Soldiers disperse Palestinians

JERUSALEM (AP) - Soldiers fired tear gas today to disperse a crowd of stone-throwing Palestinians in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, military sources said. Soldiers also clamped a curfew on a village south of Hebron, another West Bank city, after stone-throwing Palestinians smashed the window of a civilian Israeli vehicle Thursday night, the sources said.
The disturbance in Nablus, the West Bank's largest Palestinian city, 30 miles north of Jerusalem, began after several hundred Palestinians rallied and began chanting anti-Israeli slogans in the main marketplace after morning prayers at a nearby mosque, reported the Palestinian Press Service. The agency monitors events in the West Bank.
