Israeli strikes kill 3 Islamic Jihad commanders, several civilians in Gaza

“Israeli airstrikes killed three senior commanders of the Islamic Jihad militant group in the Gaza Strip early Tuesday, along with several civilians including children, Palestinian officials said… The commanders were identified as Khalil Bahtini, Jehad Ghanam and Tareq Izzeldeen. All three were killed in strikes on their homes, along with members of their families… Israel said the operation, named Shield and Arrow, was a response to rocket fire that followed the death in custody of the hunger striker Khader Adnan… Hamas did not immediately join the fighting…”

The commanders were killed at home. The civilians in the headline are the families in the houses, and the story says so in its fourth paragraph.
