FUNERAL OF 18-YEAR-OLD PALESTINIAN — Mourners reacted during the funeral of Palestinian Majdi Ghabayen, who died of wounds sustained in an explosion during a rally near the border fence with Israel on Sept. 13, in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday.

A photograph and a caption, and no story attached. This is the only page in this archive that names a young Palestinian who died at the Gaza border protests of September 2023. The caption carries the cause of death as an umbrella group of Palestinian factions gave it.
A correction
An earlier entry gave the caption as “Mourners carried the body of Majdi Ghabayen, 18, who was killed during a protest along the Gaza Strip’s border with Israel, during his funeral in the Jabaliya refugee camp on Monday.” and the headline as “Mourners carry the body of Majdi Ghabayen”. The page says mourners reacted during the funeral, not that they carried the body; the place is Beit Lahia, not Jabaliya; he died of wounds sustained in an explosion on 13 September; and the printed caption attributes that explosion to an accidental detonation of a device some protesters had planned to use, on the word of an umbrella group of Palestinian factions.
