The paper says what it is reprinting: “Because of the current conflict in Palestine, The Register is reprinting this summary of Zionist purpose and achievement as presented in a bulletin of the Zionist Organization of America.” The bulletin argues: “Before the World War, the Palestine Arabs never claimed nationhood or statehood for Palestine.” And: “Only two generations ago, the entire Arab population of Palestine was less than 300,000.” It credits Zionism with “the transformation of a fringe of the Arab desert into a land flowing with milk and honey.”

Read it against the Associated Press census in this archive fifteen years earlier, which counted 757,182 people, and against the Philadelphia Inquirer in 1920, which counted 600,000 fellaheen.
