“His has been an insistent voice proclaiming Israel’s right to Judea and Samaria—the ‘West Bank’ seized by Jordan in 1948… Israel can not seem to be hearing mysterious voices and obeying strange impulses. It must express its claims to legitimacy in the West’s shared vocabulary of liberal democratic politics.”
