“They are Israel’s Palestinians: the Arabs who stood their ground during the turmoil of the 1948 war and have lived and worked in… There are no Israeli Arabs among the ranks of the Israeli establishment. Their absence from the army keeps them out of the single most cohesive and upwardly-mobile institution in the country.”

They are Israel’s Palestinians. The Times prints it plainly in 1975, in the same paragraph in which it goes on calling them Israeli Arabs for the next thirty years. The headline tries a fourth form again — Israel’s Arabs, possessive.
