“JERUSALEM — The Israeli military said Monday that there was a ‘high possibility’ that one of its soldiers had mistakenly shot dead Shireen Abu Akleh, the Palestinian-American journalist killed in May while covering a raid in the occupied West Bank… The military said it would not open a criminal investigation… Abu Akleh’s family said the findings were an attempt to avoid accountability… Earlier Israeli statements had suggested she might have been killed by Palestinian gunfire…”
