“In his book, ‘The New Jerusalem,’ C. K. Chesterton gives eloquent expression to the same fear of the native Arab Palestinians. ‘Rightly or wrongly,’ he writes, ‘certain people in Palestine fear the coming of the Jew as they fear the coming of the locusts; they regard them as parasites that feed on a community by a thousand methods of financial intrigues and economic exploitation. I could understand the Jews indignantly denying this…’”
