“Roving bands of underground Jewish Extremists, striking in the dark early hours today, have opened what appears to be a countrywide attack on Palestine’s railway system… explosions occurring every 10 minutes at various points along the railway from Ramleh to Jerusalem… the Jibne station south of Tel Aviv was attacked by Terrorists.”

A banner headline. Forty years earlier the Standard Times had carried a forty-two-word brief headed Palestine Railways, about a line being built for pilgrims, with no people in it at all. The same three words head both.
